Artist's Statement

For the past four years I've been working with round reeds to make my baskets.

Previously, I worked with the coiling technique, consequently the change has its own strengths and drawbacks.

I'm learning to accommodate them. I cut and soak the reeds to straighten them although they are stubborn and want their own way.  After they dry I wrap each one with either raffia or pattern paper, whichever one strikes my fancy.  Each reed is stitched to the preceding one until the desired shape is completed.

Life flows through us and eventually into our artwork.
Our thoughts are revealed.
